About Brooke Harris
Brooke Harris is an abstract painter who calls Lexington, Kentucky home. Her work explores the transcendent connection between humans and creativity, where the seen and unseen meet on canvas. Using acrylics, she creates layered abstractions that serve as metaphors for spiritual reality—fluid expressions of color and movement that show a spiritual reality expressed in paint.
Captivated by the interplay of pigment, water, and time, Harris embraces a deliberate slowness in her practice. The drying process, with its pauses and unpredictable shifts, becomes as vital as the brush itself. In a culture that demands speed, her paintings emerge as acts of quiet rebellion, inviting moments of reflection, presence, and hope.
Harris holds a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Art from Asbury University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University. Her work has been exhibited regionally, including at the Kentucky State Capitol, and internationally, and is held in both private and public collections. A teacher at heart, she leads painting classes and encourages others to discover their own creative capacity.
